In June 2023, the Alliance of Beverage Licensees (ABLE BC) announced its new head of Cannabis Membership. ABLE BC has long been the voice of BC’s liquor licensees (bars, pubs, private liquor retailers) and now also advocates on behalf of the province’s retail cannabis licensees. ABLE works with government to create policies that enhance opportunities for liquor and cannabis licensees.
Not long after the announcement, the ABLE Cannabis Membership portal was launched.
At the Cannabis Membership portal, you’ll find information about the advocacy work ABLE provides on behalf of cannabis licensees, cannabis industry news, a membership signup page, and testimonials.
The heart of ABLE BC’s cannabis advocacy is its Cannabis Committee, a group of industry experts from different regions of the province. The Committee works with the Head of Cannabis Membership, Nick Landells, to develop policy priorities and strategies for government relations.
The current strategic objectives of the Committee:
- Protecting investments and expand business opportunities
- Modernize cannabis licensing and regulations
- Create due diligence materials and best practice guidelines
- Reduce tax and regulatory burden on legal cannabis retailers
