December 10, 2023On November 27, 2023, LCRB (BC Liquor & Cannabis Regulation Branch) issued Bulletin 23-11 which allows BC liquor licensees who hold multiple licenses to buy and sell up to $100,000 of liquor between their licenses annually. The previous limit on liquor transfers was $10,000 annually. Purchases from other licensees are still capped at $10,000.
Licensees must keep records in their liquor registers indicating quantity, brand and SKU, value, purchase or sale date, and the license number of both licensees:
“Liquor purchased from or sold to another licence must be recorded separately from all other liquor purchases, either in a separate section of the register or in a separate register.” – Buying Liquor in affected license Terms and Conditions handbook.
The changes affect the following BC liquor licenses:
- Liquor Primary
- Food Primary
- Licensee Retail Store
- Rural Liquor Retail Store
- Wine Store
- Catering
The bulletin states that “The change allows licensees additional flexibility to transfer their inventory between establishments.”
