June 24, 2024On May 17, 2024, BCLDB Wholesale (BC Liquor Distribution Branch) announced upcoming changes to its “Cannabis Age of Inventory” policies. The update aims to improve product freshness for wholesale customers (licensed BC cannabis stores).
The following changes will be implemented on November 1, 2024:
Maximum Storage Times at LDB Distribution Centre
Flower, pre-roll, edibles
Will be reduced to 6-months from the delivery date to LDB from the current 8-month threshold.
Beverages, concentrates and all other cannabis products
Will be reduced to 9 months from the delivery date to LDB from the current 12 months.
Unsold inventory will be returned to the producer as “aged inventory”
Maximum Age at Time of Delivery to LDB Distribution Centre
Flower, pre-roll, edibles
While the maximum age on the date of delivery remains at 3 months from the packaged-on date, the update will also apply to infused pre-rolls.
Beverages, concentrates and all other cannabis products
No change. The current maximum age on date of delivery will remain at 5 months from the packaged-on date.
