LCRB Updating Licensee Handbooks and Policy Directives

In 2023, the BC Liquor & Cannabis Regulation Branch will be updating all LCRB licensee handbooks and has also made changes to how LCRB policy directives will be shared with BC liquor and cannabis licensees. The announcement states that “LCRB will review and update current licensee handbooks and policy directives to improve the clarity of these documents”.

LCRB Policy Directive Changes

The old policy directives page is still available as an archive of policy updates issued from 2014-2022, but going forward “policy updates” are being called “bulletins” and will be published on a new “Liquor & Cannabis Bulletins” page. If you visit the page, you can read an announcement PDF available in several languages.

As per the new bulletins page:

“Bulletins communicate new or changed rules, in addition to administrative changes that impact your license. These changes are generally published in the handbooks for liquor and cannabis licenses” – LCRB Liquor & Cannabis Bulletins, 2023.

As of the date of this Thrive news article, no new bulletins have been published. LCRB will email licensees when new bulletins are published.

LCRB Licensee Handbook Changes

Licensee handbooks are being reviewed and updated one at a time. According to LCRB, the update is primarily a formatting change that will improve how information in handbooks is organized. The update does not change rules or how licensees must operate their business. LCRB will email relevant licensees one month prior to publishing an updated handbook.
