February 6, 2025
Bar Trends for 2025 – What Will Be Hot According to Experts?
February 26, 2025As Trump fixated on Canada becoming a 51st state and annexing our country through “economic force”, our usually understated national pride gave way to a Canadian patriotism usually reserved for international hockey matches. Though our public healthcare system needs an overhaul, few Canadians would likely trade it for America’s system. Few Canadians would want to see our gun laws loosened and the possible increase in violence associated with America’s gun laws and gun lobby. Finally, most (90%) Canadians don’t want to be American.
On social media, and in real life, Canadians are coming together to say, “Canada is not for sale” and posting lists of Canadian-made alternatives to American products. “Buy Canada” has become a rallying cry, a way for citizens to feel empowered, to push back against Trump’s threats and tariffs while supporting Canadian businesses. For weeks now, lists have been published everywhere – from Reddit to Threads. People are cancelling their Netflix, Prime and other streaming service subscriptions, and when you’re out grocery shopping, you’ll see folks studying labels for a “Made in Canada” or “Product of Canada” labels.
